My Story

2am. Scotland jet lag. Motörhead cranked. Cat in my lap. That's where Meöwhead was born.

I'm Hilaire. And yeah — I know what you're thinking. Meöwhead? Hear me out.

I spent years in the music business, starting behind a mic at KUCI college radio and eventually landing as the West Coast promotional marketing guy for the rock department at Arista Records and beyond. I toured with Metallica. I worked with AC/DC. I watched Sarah McLachlan make arenas cry. Music wasn't just my career — it was my oxygen.

But here's the thing nobody tells you about being a rock industry guy: I've always been a cat person.

Not a phase. My whole life. Growing up, Mom kept horses, dogs, and cats — and I gravitated straight to the cats every time. In college it was Rasta. Then my wife and I rescued Cica, an 8-year-old indoor-only cat whose owner decided to see the world. Cica decided she'd see ourworld instead — and spent the next decade becoming the ultimate California convert: indoor-outdoor, sun-chasing, absolutely unbothered. She was perfect.

So there I am, recently back from a mountain bike trip in Scotland (yes, I shred trails, I scuba dive, I chase adventures — cats don't slow that down). It's 2am. The fire is going. I'm deep in jet lag purgatory with our cat purring on my chest, Motörhead rattling the walls, and I'm just… delirious-doodling. I opened up my laptop and started riffing.

What came out was a snarling, skull-hatted, crossbones-rocking cat with the energy of every great rock logo I'd spent decades promoting. The attitude of a cat who's seen a mosh pit and didn't flinch.

Meöwhead.

This is for the people who blast metal on trail rides. Who come home from a dive trip, crack a beer, and let the cat claim the couch. Who had a cat in every chapter of their life and aren't even a little embarrassed about it. The ones who know that cats — much like rock and roll — answer to nobody.

Welcome to the pride. 🤘🐾
